This former darts and dominoes social club in Bury had been empty and unloved for many years when we came across it. After working closely with the owners, local people and the local authority, we were able to bring it back into use as a 2 bedroom bungalow with a garden on three sides. We were also able to help the nearby pub with clearing some land for extra parking as part of the development.
Local residents told us they were “delighted with the results”, and that the building had been “a blot on the landscape for too long!”
Empty and abandoned properties don’t just sit quietly—they often have a wider impact.
They can attract vandalism or anti-social behaviour, affect the feel of a street, and in some cases make people feel less safe in their own neighbourhood.
We believe these properties can—and should—be brought back into use.
